Lessons and Memories To Treasure

This second quarter has been a meaningful journey filled with learning and growth. I have gained many valuable lessons that helped me understand my subjects better and develop a more positive attitude toward studying. Every discussion encouraged me to think critically, explore new ideas, and appreciate the importance of teamwork and perseverance. These experiences have truly motivated me to keep improving and to always give my best in everything I do.

One of the highlights of this quarter was our participation in Sci-Trix, an event that allowed us to showcase our creativity and scientific knowledge. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience because we had the chance to learn inside school and work together with our classmates. Joining the event not only strengthened our bond but also reminded us that learning can be fun and exciting when we explore it in different ways.

We also celebrated Teachers’ Month, a time to express our gratitude to our beloved teachers for their dedication and hard work. As members of the English Club, we took part in the Arc Making Contest to show our appreciation and love for them. It was a fulfilling experience to see how our small gesture brought smiles to the faces of our mentors who continuously inspire and guide us every day.

In conclusion, the second quarter was filled with joy, learning, and unforgettable experiences. I am truly thankful for the opportunities I had to grow, participate, and make meaningful memories with my teachers and classmates. These moments will continue to inspire me to do better and to cherish every part of my learning.

Exploring the Beauty of Vigan City

Walking through the cobblestone streets of Vigan City feels like stepping into a living time capsule. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this charming destination in Ilocos Sur is one of Asia’s best-preserved Spanish colonial towns. Every ancestral house, every wrought-iron balcony, and every stone wall whispers stories of a rich cultural blend, where Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish influences gracefully intertwine.

But Vigan isn’t just a place to see history, it’s a place to feel it. The gentle clip-clop of kalesas, the scent of freshly made empanadas wafting through the air, and the warm smiles of locals all make you realize that this city isn’t frozen in time; it’s very much alive, thriving on its heritage and resilience.

What makes Vigan truly special is how its people keep their traditions burning bright. The locals take pride in preserving their cultural crafts, from the art of burnay pottery to the intricate abel weaving that has been passed down through generations. Many ancestral homes have been lovingly restored, serving as both living spaces and reminders of the city’s storied past. Even schools are doing their part, weaving Vigan’s history into lessons so the next generation grows up with a deep sense of pride in their roots.

The Vigan empanada is a popular Ilocano delicacy known for its bright orange, crispy rice flour crust. It’s stuffed with Vigan longganisa, egg, and shredded vegetables, creating a flavorful and satisfying snack that reflects the region’s rich culinary heritage.

And then there’s the Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts, an explosion of color, music, and tradition that celebrates everything the city stands for. It’s more than just an event; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Vigan’s soul. Tourists from all over the world come not just to admire the heritage houses, but to experience the culture, to live it.

Still, what truly sets Vigan apart is how it balances progress with preservation. The local government, artisans, and residents work hand in hand to ensure that tourism remains sustainable and respectful. The result? A city that evolves gracefully, embracing modern life without losing its authenticity.

So if you’re yearning for a destination that lets you travel back in time while celebrating the beauty of the present, Vigan City is waiting to welcome you. Here, history isn’t just remembered, it’s lived, every single day.

Heroes Without Capes: Our Teachers

The 2025 Teacher’s Month Celebration with the theme “My Teacher, My Hero” is a special time to honor and appreciate all the teachers who play a big role in our lives. Teachers are more than just people who give lessons in class, they are our second parents, our mentors, and our heroes who guide us every step of the way. They give their time, effort, and love to help us reach our dreams and become better individuals.

I am truly thankful for all the teachers who continue to work hard every day. Even when faced with challenges, they never give up on us. They patiently explain lessons, encourage us to do our best, and believe in our potential. Their dedication and kindness inspire me to study harder and be more respectful and responsible.

To show my gratitude and respect, I make sure to listen carefully in class, follow their advice, and always give my best in everything I do. A simple smile, greeting, or “thank you” can also show how much we appreciate them.

Together with the English Club, we joined the “Together 4 Teachers” arc-making parade to celebrate and honor all our teachers. It was a fun and meaningful experience that showed our unity and appreciation for their hard work. Through this activity, we were able to express our love and gratitude to our real-life heroes, our teachers.
